Your next best step: help your student begin reflecting now
The strongest college essays rarely come from rushing. They come from noticing.
Students need time to think about what they have experienced, what they have learned, what they care about, and how they are becoming the person they are meant to be.
That is why I recommend starting with my SHINE! Essay Prep Guide: Life Launch Prep Series SHINE!: Writing The Essay of Life for College & Scholarship Applications
This Is a Thoughtful Warm-up to the Workshop
The Guide Captures the Heart of a Writing Workshop on Paper!
It gives students a place to begin gathering meaningful stories, personal insights, accomplishments, challenges, turning points, and reflections before they sit down to write the final essay.
Think of it as helping your student arrive with more raw material, more confidence, and fewer blank-page jitters.
Why this helps
When students come into the essay process with a few ideas already gathered, they are less likely to stare at the screen wondering, “What am I supposed to say?”
Instead, they can begin with material they have already explored — moments, memories, lessons, and experiences that may become the heart of a strong and authentic essay.
You’ve already taken the first step
You joined the waitlist. That means you are helping your student get support before the pressure peaks.
Next, give them a simple way to begin reflecting now — so when this class opens, they are not starting from zero.
I’m so glad you’re here, and I look forward to helping your family take the next step toward an essay process that feels more guided, more grounded, and much less overwhelming.
